Meet the team

Anne Murrell
Now leading Geothermal UK, Anne has many years' experience in the geothermal sector in Bavaria, Germany. She acted at city, state and national level in Germany to extend opportunities for geothermal development, whilst leading deep geothermal projects in Bavaria. Anne, a Chartered Accountant, started her career in finance and has worked in Private Equity, as a CFO in industry and as an entrepreneur.

Lisl Lewis
Lisl is an applied geoscience professional with 30 years of international experience across the energy and natural resources sectors. She has a background in subsurface exploration and corporate management and is now supporting the UK’s emerging geothermal and critical mineral priorities.

Nick Shaw
Nick Shaw - still a geologist - is now focusing on the heat beneath his feet. Included in a 37-year Shell career, he founded a geothermal team on volcanic or enhanced geothermal
systems then hot sedimentary aquifers. After retirement in 2016, he set up a consultancy, working in an alliance with IF Technology (Arnhem) on projects in NL, Indonesia and the UK. As a visiting lecturer with the University of Leeds he has worked on and supervised projects in Yorkshire, Iceland and Ethiopia.

Polly Tandy
Polly started her career in the North Sea oil and gas sector as a geologist before moving into drilling engineering. She has more than 25 years of experience, and has worked internationally, including roles in South America and Europe. She is now in an onshore role with the Marriott Drilling Group, focusing mainly on geothermal projects.

Sam Mitchell
Sam is a geologist with experience across academia, consulting and government. He holds a PhD in earthquake hazard and has worked in geo-environmental and geotechnical consultancy, as well as in climate adaptation and net-zero policy in the UK government.

Alexandra Fellows
Alexandra is a young professional currently working in accounting in the South of France. She has a strong passion for environmental sustainability and renewable energy. With several years of experience in website design, she contributed to the creation of the Geothermal UK website. She is keen to continue developing her career by combining her expertise in accounting with her interest in renewable energy.

Godwin Olubunmi
Godwin is a young energy enthusiast with a Masters in Subsurface Energy Systems and a background in petroleum engineering. He has experience in drilling operations, sales engineering, and CO₂ storage, with a strong interest in low-carbon energy. He previously served as Vice President of the Net Zero Society at Heriot-Watt University.

Michael Natzler
Michael began his career in thinktank policy and strategy consulting before pivoting into energy through a Masters at Peking University's Yenching Academy. Michael’s research (publication forthcoming) on China's geothermal industries and the geopolitics of geothermal won him the Geothermal Rising Marcelo Lippmann Graduate Award. Michael has worked at Baseload Power Taiwan and at the International Energy Agency.

Nadia Domanski
Nadia leads geothermal projects worldwide with New Zealand-based JRG Energy, from East Africa to the Caribbean and Europe. With expertise in drilling and well systems, she is on a mission to make geothermal a reliable, scalable powerhouse in the UK’s transition to low-carbon energy.

Simran Johal
Simran is a geologist by academic background, currently working in geothermal and engineering geology on a range of projects from Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) to tunnelling. She is currently based in Edinburgh and enjoys exploring the world-class Scottish geology.
